40.7 with ORC rating

Postby karelinab on Mon Mar 17, 2008 3:41 pm

am a crewmember of a 40.7 who intends to join the cowesweek. We currently have an ORC rating which is updated.
Can anyone tell me if we can register for Cowesweek and/or join the 40.7 class organization with an ORC rating?

We want to enter the Cowesweek and I read that a separate class will be set up, which is great!

It mentioned that either a membership orcompliance with the 40.7 class rules or IRC rating is required.
After reading the draft rules, you require an IRC rating. Do we really need an IRC rating?

It will have a serious impact on our boat...

IRC rating not a problem

Postby Interceptor on Tue Apr 01, 2008 12:52 pm

I wouldn't know about ORC rating compatibility

Just contact the RORC rating office http://www.rorcrating.com/ and they will guide you on what you need to do. Getting an IRC rating is not a problem for a 40.7 since there are many of them rated in the UK.

But do it soon before the season gets busy -since sometimes you can't get through by phone in May/June/July.

Best Regards

We did Cowes in 2000 with a dutch One Tonner which was orc-club. We had to change to IRC and get an IRC Rating which was not difficut based on the ORC INformation.
