Pipe Cots

Postby BlueSky on Thu May 28, 2009 4:43 am

Thought that a few of you might like to see some photos of the pipe cots we added to uor boat. Just got some aluminium pipe folded up to suit and used s/s ring bolts through the cupboard and aft bulkhead. Made a full size 8mm MDF fibre board template first. There is a rope pulled tight between the two ring bolts which form the hinge / pivot point. The rope runs through a pocket in the canvas bunk. The rest is then just lashed on. We now manage to sleep 10 on the boat at major regattas. The windward one is great on a passage race...
Hope these are of interest.
By the way, if you do drill through the aft bulkhead....remember to check if your charger or other electrical device is on the other side on the starboard cabin.....now that's experience.
Cheers
Richard

Nice photos and interesting installation. Over here in the UK I am sure the "non-modification brigade" would shoot you for trying to cheat if you did'nt declare it as part of your IRC rating....! It may lower you VCG and that would just not do....
